The region of Velika Gorica is ideal for single or family trips. The landscape of Turopolje and Posavina, as well as the forest “Turopoljski lug” are unique opportunities for long walks and bicycle rides. After a ten minute drive from Zagreb you are in the fertile plain in Turopolje, and in half an hour you can be in Posavina or Vukomeričke gorice.
In Gorice you can visit wooden chapels of which St. George's Chapel in Lijevi Štefanki is the oldest master-piece of timber architecture in Turopolje. In autumn, the forests of Vrhovlje and Pokuplje abound in mushrooms and chestnuts and the Kupa is ideal for a few days’ camping. In Pokupsko there is the Baroque church of St. Ladislaw which was badly damaged in the Homeland War and by now has almost been completely restored. The church of the Holy Cross from 1874 is situated in the centre of Kravarsko. In Orle the visitors can see an interesting Church of St. Bartholomew and in Veleševec the Parish Church of St. Peter the Apostle. In Bukevje you can visit Petko fish ponds which are perfect for family trips. After catching the fish you can prepare it by the pond.
